Facelift …..Without Surgery !
Face it… we all want to look our best. But the normal wear, tear, and stresses of everyday life
take a toll on our skin. And it’s not just the surface of the skin that takes a beating,
although the UV rays from the sun do age us, if we are exposed to excess.
The UV A rays tan us that beautiful golden color, the UV B rays can burn the skin,
and the UV C rays can cause skin cancer.
But there also are aging-related changes to the underlying structures of the face and neck areas.
The bony projection of the cheekbones become less notable. The fat which pads the thin skin
under the eyes diminishes, and we end up with the look of a tent with a shortened tent pole.
And what happens when the tent pole is shortened? ….The tent fabric sags onto the ground.
That…is what happens to the skin of the cheeks and eyelids over time. The skin sags down
lower on the face since there has been loss of forward support and projection ( like a tent pole )
with the loss of the underlying bone and fat padding.
SO…what can be done about this ?
Well, first I would like to remind you that careful study of the young face shows that
there are sharp delineations of all bony prominences. The lower jawline is sharply defined.
The temples are full. And the brow bone is smooth. But nevertheless, the cheeks are full
and the lower 1/3 of the face generally has an oval shape in people under age 40.
But as we lose that strong frontal projection provided by solid underlying skin support,
there is a squaring deformity of the lower face with skin sagging across the upper jawline
causing folding from the corner of the nose to the corner of the mouth. There is sagging of the
corners of the mouth, creating a frowning appearance, and there is drooping of skin down
to the lower jawline causing a ” marionette ” appearance along with jowling.
A surgical facelift is done by stretching the sagging skin up along the bias diagonally with
reattachment higher on the face ( along with removal of the ” excess ” skin. )
But this procedure simply gives the look of a better looking ” old ” person. It does not
re-create the appearance of a ” young ” person.
Here is where the state of the art , noninvasive ULTHERAPY treatment has its advantages.
ULTHERAPY actually stimulates the formation of new collagen and elastin deep in the dermal
layer of the skin and also in the connective tissue layer which covers the muscles of facial expression !
So ULTHERAPY , can really help middle-aged people regain the look of a much younger person !
AND…combining ULTHERAPY with artistic use of hyaluronate injections and/or BOTOX
neuromodulator injections can go a long way toward diminishing… or even entirely ” erasing ”
those hollows under the eyes, the ” hooding ” of the upper eyelids, the hollowing of the temples,
the marionette lines and folds, the ” parentheses ” folds next to the mouth, and the loss of
cheekbone prominence and projection.
And the improvements and rejuvenation doesn’t stop at the face. We can also soften those
annoying ” cords ” which prematurely age us in the neck region using these noninvasive
” tools “.
